Bookshelf Banter- Part One
I love to read and I know that heaps of people out there love to read too. The problem is, reading is quickly going out of fashion and the style of reading is changing. Instead of everyone trying to get a new copy of their favourite book in hardcover or paperback they grab their e-book or just opt to play games on iPads, iPhones, computers etc. Even computers are going out of style. Everything is changing and now lots of people don't read books. I don't know if people don't have time to read or if they feel nerdy reading books but they are an essential to life. You have friends in books that won't judge, their stories will always be there and the impossible can become possible. That makes me sound a little bit sad, but it is true because you can always turn to a good book for a story that has nothing to do with your day to cheer you up. That is why I want to share with you a bit about my bookshelf, the books I love, the books I hate, the books I still have to read and I would love for your input wether it be what books you love or even what books are on your bookshelves.
1. First Term at Malory Towers
Author: Enid Blyton
Series: Malory Towers
Publish Date: 1967
Publishing House: Atlantic Book Publishing Co. Ltd
Blurb: This is the first in the Malory Towers series- Enid Blyton's exciting school stories that have thrilled millions of girls & boys. Start reading them today!
My blurb: Enid Blyton is a classic. If you do not know who Enid Blyton is, please go and read her books. Wether it be the Faraway Tree, Mr Pinkwhistle, Famous Five, Malory Towers, Noddy, a short story collection of hers or a Naughtiest Girl you must! My mum grew up reading these books and so did I! They are mazing and Enid is an incredibly creative author. The Malory Towers Series is basically a whole series about Darrell Rivers who is an English student at Malory Towers. Many exciting and interesting things happen at Malory Towers with Darrell's friends Sally, Gwendoline and Mary-Lou.
Read, not read or never going to read: Read
2. The World According To Bob
Author: James Bowen
Series: The Bob Series
Publish Date: 2014
Publishing House: Hodder & Stoughton
Blurb: James And His Street Cat Bob have been on a remarkable journey together. In the years since their story ended in the bestselling A STREET CAT NAMED BOB James, with Bob's help, has begun to find his way back to the real world.
Almost every day. bob provides moments of intelligence, bravery and humour, at the same time opening his human friend's eyes to important truths about friendship, loyalty, trust - and the meaning of happiness.
In the continuing tale of their life together James shows the many ways in which Bob has been his protector and guardian angel through times of illness, hardship, even life-threatening danger.
As they high five together for their crowds of admirers, James knows that the tricks he's taught Bob are nothing compared to the lesson he's learnt from his street-wise cat.
My blurb: The Bob books are about a cat, Bob, who was rescued by James after he was left injured after a fight. James is a recovering drug addict and Bob helps him to get through the temptation and withdrawal symptoms a recovering drug addict faces. James doesn't have a proper job so he spends his days busking in local parks and subway stations. Bob comes along to James to work each day and helps him to collect money to pay the bills. Throughout the book, Bob and James face many difficult issues not just as a whole but individually as well. When James discovers The Big Issue, a magazine company for disadvantaged citizens things start to look up, but will everything go to plan?
Yes, that does sound very much like a blurb but I don't want to give anything away. And another yes, this is all real stories. The great thing about these books as there are many different ones and they come age appropriate for many age groups with the children's edition, adults edition and the picture book edition of all the tails of James and Bob.
Read, not read or never going to read: I have read the children's book, the picture book and one of the adult versions but I haven't read any of the christmas special ones.
3. Assassin
Author: Grace Cavendish (AKA Patricia Finney)
Series: The Lady Grace Mysteries
Publish Date: 2007
Publishing House: Red Fox of Random House
Blurb: Murder at Court! One suitor dead with a knife in his back, and another under suspicion ... Can Lady Grace, Queen Elizabeth's favourite Maid of Honour solve the mystery and bring order back to the Queen's Court? Open up the daybooke of Lady Grace for a tale of daggers, death and a very darling girl...
My blurb: The Lady Grace books are set in around 1569 at Queen Elizabeth I many homes. Lady Grace is the Queens favourite Maid of Honour and is also Her Majesty's Pursuivant (detective). Grace has to solve the mysteries with the help of her two friends Ellie and Masou whilst staying in line with the strict living conditions. The stories are historically correct so a great read for those who love history or need historical facts but also great for those who like to read books of a different time before blogs, internet and phones. I love these books and luckily there is the whole alphabet of books. The books are arranged in alphabetical order (Assassin, Betrayal, Conspiracy, Deception, Exile, Feud, Gold, Haunted etc.) so there is going to be at least 26 of them! The only issue is these books are very hard to find all of, with the same covers as many different covers have come out and hardly any are the same in size and style.
Read, not read or never going to read: I have read Assassin and Betrayal and loved them both but have not yet Conspiracy as I cannot find it with the correct cover.
4. Apple and Rain
Author: Sarah Crossan
Series: N/A
Publish Date: 2014
Publishing House: Bloomsbury Publishing
Blurb: A story about sad endings, A story about happy beginnings, A story to make you realise who is special. When Apple's mother returns after eleven years away, Apple feels whole again. She will have an answer to her burning question - why did you go? But just like the stormy Christmas Eve when she left, her mother's homecoming is bitter sweet. It's only when Apple meets someone more lost than she is, that she begins to see things as they really are.
My blurb: N/A
Read, not read or never going to read: I have not yet read this as I have some many books to read and I don't like to read sad books. I got this book as a present so I will have to read it but I really dislike reading books that end really sadly. I am not saying I like to read books that are all rainbows and unicorns and no one ever gets upset, but I like them to make you smile and recommend to others. If you have read this, let me know in the comments if it is to sad to read!
That is all for today's "Bookshelf Banter" so please, look out for Bookshelf Banter Parts Two, Three & Four.
Love you all and go and check out the Instagram and Tumblr pages

Weekend Haul
Over the weekend I got a few bits and bobs that I want to share with you. Sorry about the quality of the pictures, but I use my iPad to take them and when they get uploaded they go even worse. The first thing that I got was of course Zoella's Girl Online.
Thank you very much for reading and look out for my next post! Xx
I have already read it, but haven't bought it until just now. It was super good and I have pre-ordered Girl Online On Tour, which if you haven't I strongly recommend because they are awesome. There are many other books that I want to pre-order such as Abby Clements' Heavenly Italian Ice Cream Shop which is the sequel to Viviens Heavenly Ice Cream Shop (I mentioned these books in my favourites post).
My next book purchase was Josephine Moon's The Tea Chest. Recently I have been loving foodie books and thought that this would be a great addition to my bookshelf (a place of many books that I still have to read because I have bought so many amazing books).
Whilst in the shops I got Insurgent the DVD, because I just love the book series. I have the whole series and the first Divergent movie. I went with some friends to the cinemas to see Insurgent and being honest, I was a little disappointed. Some of my friends hadn't read the books and they thought it was great, but when you have read the books, know the characters, know what is supposed to happen and understand why the things happen, the movie can be a bit of a letdown. But with all that said, I still enjoyed it and, hey I have bought the movie so it can't be that bad.
You may have noticed the bed covers in the background of the pictures and this is because I got a new quilt cover set. I don't have a picture of it but I may have attached one from the internet by the time I post this. Whilst in the stores I saw so much rose-gold items I felt I had to buy some. Unfortunately, it doesn't really go with my bedroom and I already have too much stuff. I saw a really nice Typography saying that "A day spent without laughter, is a day wasted". I felt I could picture it in Zoella's house. Then next item that I bought were some nice little party lights to hang in my bedroom. I have seen heaps of these around, but I really did like these particular ones.
To go with my new lighting, I got a new lamp & lampshade. Recently, I outgrew my old lamp shade so I had been on the hunt for a new one. The lamp has a really nice part to it where it has two glass bubble bits on the middle so it looks a bit like a snow mans body. This is the lampshade to go on top of the lamp.
I got my cat a new bed because he doesn't like his old bed anymore. I don't know why but I think maybe he gets a little squished in it. I bought it for him as a birthday present because his birthday is coming up soon. Yes, I am the kind of person that buys my pets birthday cards and presents.
My final item was a colourful wool for making scarves and blankets out of. In the winter months I like to knit and I find that lots of my really good wools go really quickly and I am left with the block coloured ones. This is a nice assortment of blues that will make really nice knitwear.
The thing that I also love about this wool (that I didn't realise until I got home) was a little message on the side of the packaging.

Winter Bathroom Blitz
Today, I want to share with you all the products that I use in the bathroom. Don't worry there is nothing embarrassing! If you use any of the products, like them or have any suggestions please leave a comment and if you enjoy this please +1 it to a friend and use social media for good! And another thing is that I am basing all of this on my own personal knowledge and I have not researched what the company states about the products or what others think.
My first product is a product that I have used for hundreds of years. Not actually hundreds but ever since I was really little. This product is Redwin's Sensitive Skin Sorbolene Moisturiser. When I was little I would break out in really bad rashes and nothing would help. I went to a dermatologist who gave me a list of all the skin products and remedies I could use to help. This was on there and I have used it for all the years since. When I go away I have heaps of the tiny bottles but at home I have this big one. It is the 'Restoring' one and I find that this one is the one that hellps my skin the most. It is great to use after going swimming, having a shower, removing make-up etc. Whenever my skin feels tight, I just put on a few squirts of this and it is all fixed. This also helps with pimples and makes you skin glow. Another bonus about this product, is that it is cheap. It is not expensive and is widely available.
Next is my a beauty must, Neutrogena's Deep Clean Foaming Clenser. I have been using this for a few years and it has worked wonders. This helps with pimples and making my skin look and feel refreshed. This is a tiny pricey at around $11 for a 175g bottle, but it does last for a month or two. I sometimes feel that this is a little magical as when I think that I am just about to run out, it keeps giving. I have once had my other bottle in the shower for when I run out because I think I am about to but it ends up sitting there for another two weeks.
Next, is my two favourite body washes. The first is the one I use most. This is Palmolive's Milk & Honey Shower Milk. I have also been using this for years and will continue to for many more. It always make my skin go super soft and brings out any tan that may remain in the winter months. It also has a really nice smell to it, but it is not to strong like a perfume. It is on the affordable side and comes in many sizes. You can even get it in travel pack size for the holidays.
When I feel like treating myself a little (in the way of body washes) I use Imperial Leathers No. 24 Oriental Bloom Cherry Blossom + Vanilla Triple Moisturising Body Wash. This smells absolutely devine and it is really soft and makes your skin feel all silky. I love the fact that it is pink too! This is a little more expensive then the Palmolive one and can be a little harder to find in some stores. It is not really expensive but it is in a smaller bottle and doesn't come in different sizes.
Deodrant is every girls (and guys) essential. That is why I use QV Naked Dermatologically Tested Deodorant. I have lots of issues with sensitive skin and when I first started using deodrant it would make a rash and was super uncomfortable. I use the one with the white lid for everyday use and the one with a blue lid for when I need a little more protection like against sports and the such like.
My 6th product is one that I actually got as a freebie when buying something else from a chemist but I hear it is meant to be around $60. It is nothing less then a Sex In The City Fantasy Perfume. This smells really fresh with a nice flowery scent. I love the bottles shape and although you can't really tell in the photo, it is a really nice shade of pink/ red. The great thing about this perfume is that the smell does wear off. This is great if you are going out for dinner and don't want to go to bed smelling like a 'Fantasy' or even if you need an excuse to go and have a quick spritz in the bathroom.
My next favourite perfume is a Snow White Perfume. I don't know much about this product apart from the fact that I got it super cheap and that although it is childrens, it has a really mature smell to it. For basically the whole of last year I used this and look how much is left! This and another Tinker Bell one were (I think) a limited edition as Woolworths.
Teeth are very important in your daily bathroom routines. I use Colgate's Advanced Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste. Wow, that line really sounded like a TV commercial for Colgate! When it comes to toothpaste I really am not fussy but tend to lean towards the Colgate ones. Really, toothpastes all work the same if you brush your teeth right regardless of the 'Whiter Teeth' claims they make. Thosereally only work if you buy the whole multi-pack of all the products stating that they will make your teeth whiter.
When it comes to washing my hair I look no further then Natures Organics Fruits Shampoo and Conditioner. These are super affordable, easy to find in shops and they work really well. In the range there is at least Grape, Apple & Wild Berry but I think that there is more. I have been using these for ages and are one of the very few types of shampoos and conditioners that get rid of the smell of chlorine from your hair.
