This is the first favourites post I have ever done and I feel like I am entering a whole other level of blogging. I feel that 'Monthly Favourites' are featured in blogs and vlogs by the queens and kings of the internet world like: Zoella, Tanya Burr, SprinkleOfGlitter, Marcus Butler, PointlessBlog etc. and I feel that maybe this is a little out of my league. I will try to do a monthly favourites every month, but sometimes I don't have internet to connect to so I apologise if I sometimes seem unreachable. I realise that I have been writing this blog for months and I only have one commenter, but that is not what this blog is about. Yes, I would love it if maybe some people did take more notice of my blog so that I could communicate with you but, I really enjoy developing writing skills, social media skills and hopefully I will develop more skills with my blog so that I can add a better, more personalised design to my blog space. Aside from that, this blog has given me a sense of freedom, confidence and hope. Now that the thank you to whoever is reading this is done, I will continue with the October Favourites!
My first three favourites are book favourites. The first is a book I recently finished and is a book that I have previously mentioned somewhere on my blog. This is Josephine Moon's The Tea Chest. I bought this at Kmart for $9 and it was definitely "bang for my buck" as they say. It is a very well-crafted story with a great plot and characters. I can't wait to read The Chocolate Promise another book by Josephine Moon and many more to come! My second favourite is Tanya Burr's Love, Tanya. I thought this book may be a bit too make-up based and boring but it is brilliant. I would rate it very, very highly because it shows a different side of a YouTube icon that you think you know. It is super interesting and is also really helpful and inspiring as she has heaps of tips and tricks. My third favourite is a book I think you would have been expecting, GIRL ONLINE ON TOUR! I have had this book pre-ordered for two or three months and was super excited to finally get it. I have had it for a few days but am ashamed to say that I am only up to chapter thirty-four. I have had many late nights, so I haven't had the time to read it. It is amazing although I am not so keen on the cover. I know that that makes no difference to the actual book, I just wanted to say that the cover doesn't have a chance competing against the first one. I personally don't think the colours go well and it is a bit plain. I really loved Girl Online's cover but felt a bit let down with Girl Online On Tour's cover.
My next few favourites are food favourites. A little while ago I treated myself to a Coles Home Brand Chocolate Cupcake because the only cake I eat is the Coles Home Brand Chocolate Mud Cake so I thought I would give them a go. I found there was a little bit too much cake on the cupcakes so I have now switched to the mini ones.
Another Coles Home Brand favourite is the Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Sandwiches! They are soooooo delicious and I love the biscuits on them. They are not too big which means that I don't eat myself silly!
Focaccia! Next favourite is, for a change, healthy! I really try to be healthy but my will power sucks and I am a total sweet tooth so I struggle. In my foccacias I have chicken, mayonnaise, avocado, lettuce and tomato. Nachos are also a new favourite. I have my nachos with Plain Doritos and Old El Paso Mild Chunky Salsa with a homemade Guacamole made out of avocado and sweet chilli sauce. Lauria Speciality Sweets Almond Bread is a very recent discovery. I have always thought that almond bread is a savoury, disgusting thing that goes on cheese platers because, lets face it, almond bread is not exactly appealing in looks. But it sure makes up for it in taste! I discovered it a few days ago when I went out for a day with a friend and she brought a packet along. I thought it was another one of her 'healthy obsessions' and was slightly confused as to when she would bring a savoury food that usually goes with cheese and biscuits. She was munching away on it and then she offered me a piece and I thought I would just give it a go! In turn it was delicious and I finished off the rest of the packet for her! It is actually really sweet and tastes quite sugary though it is still reasonably healthy. I am not sure how to describe it but please go out and try some! It is a little pricey so it is a bit of a sweet treat. (There is an image of them on the cover for this post)
Next favourite is a stationary favourite. I love stationary, I love to going to stationary stores like Typo, Kikki K etc. and I love watching stationary hauls on YouTube. I bought these four notebooks each with an inspirational message on it and a delicate pattern. The notebooks were $3 each at Cheap as Chips. I forgot to get a pictur of these but if you look at the cover again they are in the top right corner.
Highlighters! They are so important for any student or a well organised human being. I had been loving my friends STAEDLER TEXTSURFER CLASSIC HIGHLIGHTERS!!! My friend had been using them for ages and they are super good, don't break or dry out and the colours are really vibrant so when I had the opportunity to pick some up one day when at OfficeWorks I simply couldn't pass it up. I have been using them for everything, as so many things need highlighting. They add so much colour to your page and life.
Zoella actually MoreZoella videos on YouTube. I always love Zoella and her videos but lately I have really been enjoying them and am enjoying the fact that she is vlogging much more. I love the idea of the competition that she was running on her Instagram account (@Zozeebo) where you have to send in a picture of what you would take 'On Tour' with you and you can win whatever Penny takes with her 'On Tour'. I sent in my entry though I am not entirely happy with the way it turned out. I'm not sure if it has finished yet but Good Luck to all who entered!
Rosemary & Thyme is an old(er) TV series based on these two restoring gardeners, Rosemary Boxer and Laura Thyme and it follows all of the murders that happen when they are at the different jobs which take place in all of these beautiful English gardens.
Valley Girl Black Singlet has been one of my most worn outfits this September. It is a stretchy material that shapes you and hugs you tightly. It looks like it is a tight top, but it stretchy and very flexible. I have been looking for a top like this for months and was so happy when I picked it up at Valley Girl for $4.95. It pairs perfectly with my new Just Jeans High Waisted Jeans. These are another item that I have been searching high and low for then all a sudden I just stumbled over them. They are not jeggings but they are mad of a more stretchy material then traditional denim but they still shape just the same. I got two pairs (one light and one dark) for $79 in a special deal.
Now that summer is starting (although it is meant to be spring) Maxi Dresses are coming back in to season and style. These are some of my favourite dresses that I have and will be wearing.
A is from Cotton On and was in the $20 price range and is a maxi dress with a round spaghetti neck. B was from a shop called Sparkles but I think the dress is by a company called Refuge. C is a simple Kmart purchase (does anyone know what the K stands for in Kmart??). It is a maxi dress that has the tiny slits at the bottom as I am not a fan of the high leg splits and it is in a nice royal blue-white material. D and E are from Factorie and were each under $10 as I bought them from a DFO (if you don't know what a DFO is then you obviously haven't been to a Harbour Town which is a massive mistake. You must go there immediately!!
Highlighters.
So you know, my favourites posts from now on will be posted on the FIRST MONDAY of each month. I won't be posting a December Favourites on time as I will be on a Wi-Fi free holiday and my January favourites may also be late as I may/ may not be back, I still have some planning to do.
